2009 Ford Flex Stereo System Upgrade

HW Details: JL Audio 250/1v2 amp, JL Audio Stealthbox 10w3v3 Subwoofer, Front and Rear Component Speakers (TBD)

Step 1 Amp Wiring: I purchased a JL Audio amp wiring kit (XC-PCS4-1B) and worked to create the cleanest install possible on the Flex.

Step 2 Stealthbox Install: The install instructions are available online from JL audio so I didn’t provide quite as much detail here on this process. However this is not a simple install it took me 3 hours and I had all the equipment and experience to complete the project. If you are planning to install this yourself, first read the manual from JL audio, then see my notes and photos below, then begin the install.

Step 3 Amp Install: I choose the JL Audio 250/1v2 due to JL’s recommendation, the reviews I read online, and the built-in features it offered. This amp works perfect for this type of installation because of 4 key features that were essential to this project. 1. Built in LPF 2. Remote bass control (optional purchase) 3. Speaker level inputs (requires JL audio high level to RCA cable) 4. Automatic signal sensing amp turn on. Unfortunately I didn’t have my camera the night of the install but I will still try to describe the procedure for others.
